Our History
Created in May 1992 after rioting scarred Los Angeles, Belmont Against Racism (BAR) is a community-action, all-volunteer organization addressing issues of racism by following the slogan:
Think globally ~ Act locally.
In its first decade, BAR focused primarily on addressing racism. In 2001, we broadened our mission to include all problems of injustice.
BAR Supports our schools by:
Raising funds for METCO students participating in after school programs.
Contributing funds for professional development for teachers and staff.
Board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. Register here to RSVP and confirm your attendance.
